Although the gate was locked with two padlocks, there was a large enough gap to walk through at the right where the corrugated iron continued. I don't seem to have gone through the gate, probably because there appeared to be nothing of interest to see, but there could have been men working on this former wharf, out of sight. From what is visible in the two pictures I took, the other a wider view showing both sides of the gap, the site seems to have been empty for some time, allowing vegetation to grow.

This empty site was on Wapping High St or Wapping Wall and a slight rise at the opposite side of the empty site indicates the river wall. The next two pictures I took (not shown on the web site) were of Pelican Wharf (I think possibly only the sign I photographed remained) and Pelican Stairs, next to The Prospect of Whitby.
