Somewhere off Saunders Ness Road, I think this may be at Poplar Dry Dock, and I think a piece of this machinery - or something fairly similar remained on display for a few years either here or at Newcastle Draw Dock close to Cubitt's Newcastle Arms (later the Watermens Arms and the Great Eastern); perhaps it was just left standing around when the rest of the yard had been cleared.
 
I took only two virtually identical frames, suggesting strong that I was probably working through a gap in a fence and was unable to explore the subject by moving around, changing angle or distance. It it had been possible I'm sure there would be more pictures.
